Accessibility, also online
Searching for a route, consulting a timetable, reading information about a detour and so on? If all this is obvious for the average user, it is not the case for some blind or visually impaired people or those who have reading difficulties. Adapted digital tools can help them when they travel on the network.
That's why, in 2022, the STIB continued to work to offer online services in order to improve the accessibility of its network and to evolve its digital tools in order to become increasingly inclusive:
- The mobile app of the STIB now includes the availability of escalators in stations;
- The STIB participated in a test at the Gare du Midi in collaboration with the other Belgian public transport operators (SNCB, TEC and De Lijn) in order to help guide visually impaired people, using the Navilens app;
- A blind employee has joined the STIB's IT team.
In 2023, the STIB will continue to make its mobile app and website accessible.
