The TNG being prepared behind the scenes
After the delivery of a first unit in 2021, a second TNG arrived at the Haren depot in April 2022, where it underwent a whole series of technical tests.
These tests are essential, as there is no standard model for trams. The TNG has therefore been largely designed specifically for Brussels. No two tram networks in the world are the same, whether in terms of tracks, overhead lines or depots, maintenance and washing facilities, or onboard monitoring and communication equipment, which is why it is important to test the new vehicles on the network.
The STIB has ordered 90 TNGs. These vehicles will provide 10,000 additional spaces on the tram network. The first trams will take on passengers during 2023.
